The Perspective of Provision

And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on,” (Luke 21:3-4, ESV).
Giving requires discernment and trust. We rely on God’s provision while we seek His wisdom in our giving. Good stewardship of His blessings reflects our faithfulness and reliance on Him. It is also an expression of our perspective. Do we lean into a worldly approach to giving, embracing a space of scarcity? Or do we willingly give from a place of abundance, securing our trust in our Jehovah Jireh?
When we stop keeping score and reflect on the provisions of God in our lives, we see that even when we have very little, we live in abundance. A heart of gratitude releases us from holding tight to the things that should be freely given back to God. While we receive with open hands, we should also give in the same way. We continue passing the blessings on and glorifying God for His provision.
The poor widow knew her Provider. Even in her poverty, she lived a life of abundance, giving from a space of plenty and knowing that God would continue to supply all her needs. Her joy was found in the Lord, not in the things she owned. It pleased her to please Him.
May we trust in God to provide and may we remain good stewards of His blessings. Let’s do it together.
Prayer: Lord, we come to You asking for discernment. Help us to understand that what is ours is ultimately Yours. Grant us wisdom to turn to You in times of need and times of blessing. Reveal to us who is in need and may we, with Your guidance, give freely as You so freely give to us. Thank You for being our Jehovah Jireh. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
